We're working on bringing you the game as fast as we can.
As you can see from the trailers there is still a lot to be done, there is a lot we can improve. It will take us a little while but remember that's what we've made after only 7 months.

if most of those models are "placeholders": wow, just wow.
pegasus looks incredible.
the big explosion in the second trailer looks amazing. the flakscreen is cool. the cockpit interieur of the raptor is great and its very nice that one can turn around by almost 180°. the music is perfect (especially in the first trailer). and the bolitho is one of the few fan-designs i really like and that just feels like it could have been from the show. this promises to be so damn hot.
are the camerashakes coded or postedits?
whats your progress on the soundissue-thingy? i think fs wasnt able to play 2 sounds at the same time for the same event or something like that, that prevented the firing sounds of vipers in btrl to be bsg-ish.
one little thing i dream about is a startup procedure like in the miniseries. sitting in your viper that stands in the launch tube, hearing all the chatter from the "shooter"-guy. "engines set, thrusters positive" and so on.
would something like that be possible?i know, you'd have to see the shooterguy and thats a problem for the engine. you could use an animated flat texture but that would look stupid, i think. sigh, one can dream

Pegasus is one of the biggest placeholders we have!
Both it and the basestar are half finished models which had a texture slapped on them in a day in order that we can use them for development (and videos). The flaws in the model don't show up that well in video or screenshots but they would be much more noticeable in-game.
Both ships will have to be improved before we can release them (The Basestar in R1, the Pegasus is currently undecided).
Many of the other models are only in need of minor tweaks or are mostly finished. Not everything is a placeholder.

The Bolitho and the MK VIIe are the only two designs of Slayer's we've released so far. But the Battlestar Theseus is also his and is slated for R1.

I shot about half of the video from the first trailer and it looks identical to what I captured from the game.
Trailer 2 certainly doesn't have any postediting cause that one is mine from start to finish (well apart from the logo) and I wouldn't know how. That video is the result of the first time I've ever opened Adobe Premiere Pro (And the second time I've opened any movie editor!) so I know for certain you are seeing unedited footage of the game.

We'll have to see. Bear in mind that FS2_Open 3.6.10 has nearly two years of development on 3.6.9. Quite a lot has changed.
Also, just cause we can't do something now doesn't mean we won't be able to do it 3-4 releases from now.

Wow, fantastic work Kara! Really beautiful.
If I may make a suggestion though. People are really attracted by trailers that hype the content in the conventional way that a trailer does, utilizing music, text overlay, voice overlay, and fast-paced sequences of brief shots cut together.
I mean, this is really great as a demonstration of the game as it gives a good feel for the game itself, but from a marketing standpoint I'd go for a traditional teaser or trailer that includes the aspects I mentioned above. But dont get me wrong, the teasers teased us for sure and looked awesome
Of course this is just my opinion and I'm just sharing my 2 cents.
Either way, we'll make sure to write up an article and feature those videos on our Fleet News Service as soon as we can
