FNS Editor's Choice BSG VFX Fan Works - January 2010
Today the BSGpilots.com Fleet News Service is adding a new regular feature. Each month we will pick what we believe to be the best Visual Effects and CG projects undertaken by fans of Battlestar Galactica.
Battlestar Galactica has earned numerous Emmies and Visual Effects Society awards for the revolutionary and spectacular Visual Effects of the show.
Today we present two Editor's Choice BSG Animations.
The first is by youtube user me0markmassey and runs no less than 6 min and 37 seconds (very long by amateur CG standards). The short film features dialogue and sound effects combined with the artist's own animation and lighting, utilizing models by other artists which he credits on the YT description. Several of BSG's battles are combined into one big battle as never seen before!
The second animation depicts the tragic way that Cylons were able to defeat the entire Colonial Fleet (and it's 120 battlestars) with just the flick of a switch. The artist is YT user MajorDump and he is trying to get on the animation team of a fan-made battlestar galactica game and this is his test animation.
These sort of animations are some of the toughest BSG fan projects requiring huge time commitments where a second of animation can take 4 hours to render. So be sure to visit their YT channels, comment and rate their videos.
